Grand Street
In progress…
New green roof for a private residence in the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District. The design weaves plantings, paths and seating areas through and around a set of skylights and penthouse, reinforcing the roof’s eccentric topography while screening mechanical and support areas. Sedum will be combined with native perennials and a shade tree to create a peaceful and resilient environment for the residents, with new fencing, decking and block pavers made of black locust - a sustainable, fast-growing wood native to Eastern North America that matches the density and rot/pest-resistance of tropical hardwoods. Designed in partnership with the Brooklyn Grange and partially financed with a NYC green roof tax abatement.
